Our Owners
Jack Kohlenstein
Jack is the founder and CEO of JLK Group. Jack received his undergraduate degree from Loyola College in Business with a specialization in Marketing. In college, Jack found his entrepreneurial spirit while starting and managing a successful landscaping company. After graduation, Jack was introduced to the insurance industry through his father. Jack’s excitement and passion for working with businesses, business owners, and professionals pushed him to excel in the industry and eventually start his own firm.

Jack enjoys staying involved in the community and supporting local and state charities in his hometown of Sykesville, MD. As an outdoor enthusiast, you will frequently find Jack on the ski slopes, hiking the trails throughout MD and PA, or crabbing and hunting on the shores of the Chesapeake with his wife and son.

Doug Kohlenstein
Doug is the President of JLK Insurance Group. He grew up in Howard County, MD, and graduated from Towson University. Doug embraced the insurance industry right out of college, where he excelled in analyzing clients’ needs, putting together comprehensive insurance programs to meet those needs.

Doug can often be found on the Eastern Shore, a place he considers his second home. He enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife, 3 daughters, and son; including hunting, fishing, swimming, skiing, and hiking.
